ERIC KNIGHT, MUSICAL DIRECTOR
American opera star (and Philadelphia native), Josepha Gayer, accompanied by her daughter Robin (arm-in-arm and heart-to-heart) took in all the sights of majestic Italy; from the shops of Milan to the restaurants of Capri, from the canals of Venice to the fountains of Rome. They drove through the Italian countryside, ate pizza in a piazza, walked the halls of the legendary Teatro alla Scala and together they viewed the works of the Masters; Michelangelo’s breathtaking David and Leonardo DaVinci’s masterpiece, The Last Supper … and more!
In RENAISSANCE: Notes from Italy, you’ll hear charming stories of family, wistful thoughts of home & love, lovely music, life … and, of course, gorgeous songs that came to mind along this journey.
Josepha Gayer, who “owns personality and intellect, as well as one of those distinctively beautiful natural voices” (Fort Worth Star-Telegram), has performed on opera and concert stages all over North America. Her Candide with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis led Steve Allen of KFUO-FM to exclaim, “Without a doubt the best ‘Old Lady’ I’ve ever seen. Her facial expressions are priceless, and her wonderfully throaty mezzo-soprano voice is perfect for a woman who is ‘easily assimilated.’”
